Arty the cat visits a farm and meets the farm animals.  As he wanders around the farm he suffers several mishaps but is inspired to make an art installation.  At the end of the book he collects together all the things he has seen and builds a work of art in the farmyard!  The artist has deliberately left lots of the illustrations uncoloured so that children can complete the book, as they like, in their own arty way.

À la fin du livre, Arty rassemble tout ce qu’il a vu et construit une véritable œuvre d’art dans la cour de la ferme. L’artiste a volontairement laissé une partie des illustrations sans couleur pour que les enfants puissent les compléter comme ils le souhaitent, à leur manière.
