Josephine Miller - Directrice
Hello my name is Josephine Miller and I am the Director of Les Puces Hampshire. My journey to becoming a director is one of the most meaningful I’ve ever taken. I came across Les Puces in an online advert for a Maitresse in Portsmouth. That’s when I met Mandie Davis, Founder and CEO of Les Puces, and learnt more about the teaching method she has created. (You can read about Mandie’s inspiring story on the Les Puces website). I was immediately taken by the whole concept of Les Puces - the ethos, child-focus, innovative and original approach, materials, working relationship, professionalism and empowering attitude. Delighted to have been offered the post of Maitresse I started teaching my first class in January 2018. When I heard from Mandie that she was looking for franchisees I was instantly interested, so in February I became Les Puces’ first franchisee. By mid April I had set up my own Ltd Company and become the Director of Les Puces Hampshire!
My background is teaching, so running my own business was (and still is) a steep learning curve, but Mandie and her wonderful team are incredible. I keep saying that becoming a Les Puces franchisee is one of the best BIG decisions I’ve taken. You undoubtedly already know that there are many excellent reasons why acquiring a second language is a very good thing so I won’t list those here, I’ll just say: if you haven’t already signed your child/ren to one of our Les Puces classes, please do so without delay. All our young Puces adore our classes and gain so much from them. And just a final note, so you get a glimpse of who I am, I’ll tell you that since arriving in England in 1995 with my two young children, my journey has taken me through doing voluntary work as a teaching assistant to gaining a university degree and qualifying as a secondary teacher and now to becoming a Director and seeing Les Puces’ wonderful classes established across Hampshire and Isle of Wight.
Monique - Maitresse for Petersfield & Portsmouth
Hello, I’m Monique. I speak French, Spanish, Dutch and German. I have a degree in Modern Languages and a TEFL qualification. I grew up with a Dutch father and was brought up visiting my family there and travelling lots of the world. I have always been passionate about learning languages and meeting people from other places. I have been a teacher for over 20 years now, some of that teaching languages in a secondary school but mostly in the primary range where I've always been involved in teaching French. It is so rewarding to see children making progress in learning a language and the enthusiasm they can have when they are enjoying themselves. I'm very impressed with the exciting and motivating way that Les Puces delivers their lessons and I'm really looking forward to my great new chapter.
Juliana - Maitresse for Portsmouth
Bonjour! My name is Juliana and I am a French, Spanish and English speaker with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in modern languages. I have specialised in early childhood bilingualism, so I know the positive impact learning another language has on a child. I lived for 17 years in France and now travel to that beautiful country as often as I can. Before moving to England I was a primary teacher at an international school, and a local state school, in France.
Bilingualism in childhood is a subject that fascinates me, and Les Puces has an impressive and effective method of introducing children to French. The high quality material used at Les Puces will guarantee a fun, exciting and enriching learning experience. I look forward to meeting you all!
